When to watch boxing during the 2024 Paris Olympics
Boxing has been contested at the Olympic level since the 1904 St. Louis Games, where the U.S. swept the podium as it was the only country to compete.
Over the years, the sport has exploded in popularity. Women's boxing finally, formally became part of the Olympic program at the 2012 London Games.
Between 1984 and 2012, Olympic boxers were required to wear helmets (a regulation deemed unnecessary during "professional" matches). Starting with the 2016 Rio Games, officials lifted the longstanding headgear rule.
The men's events involve three rounds, each three minutes long. The women's rounds are fought over four rounds, lasting two minutes per bout.

Venues
The world-famous Roland-Garros will serve as the venue for many of boxing's latter-round medal matches. Preliminary bouts will be contested in Villepinte at the Arena Paris Nord.
Roland-Garros, a legendary stadium located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, is best known for hosting international tennis tournaments such as the French Open. The stadium was named after French aviator Roland Garros and was originally built in 1928 to host France's Davis Cup. The stadium has been upgraded numerous times throughout the years to compete with other Grand Slam venues. Renovations between 2015 and 2021 involved rebuilding the Philippe Chatrier Court and building the Simonne Mathieu Court.
Roland-Garros will take on a new role for the 2024 Games as it will host tennis and boxing, in addition to wheelchair tennis and sitting volleyball during the Paralympic Games.
Team USA: Olympic boxers to watch
The 21-year-old Jahmal Harvey has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the boxing ring; his nickname is "Hard Rock."
A Maryland native who began boxing at age 13 to improve his football skills, Harvey recognized his talents and smaller frame were best-suited for the squared circle. His ever-growing medal collection confirms he made the right choice: At the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships, Harvey earned gold in the featherweight division. Watch as Harvey fights to rise from world to Olympic champion.
At those same championships, 29-year-old Roscoe Hill of Spring, Texas -- whose father was a professional boxer, and who was personally baptized by the one and only George Foreman as a child -- claimed silver in the flyweight division. No American flyweight has taken home an Olympic medal since 1992, but the stars might align in Paris.
In the women's competitions, all eyes are on 21-year-old Jennifer Lozano (another Texan). Lozano's nickname "The Troublemaker" may seem like a reference to her chosen sport, but it was actually bestowed upon her as a child by her beloved grandmother, who passed in 2019.
Lozano aims to honor her abuela by claiming victory in Paris -- and causing her opponents plenty of trouble along the way.
