What to watch for

Men's 71kg Gold Medal Match

It will be an uphill battle for 23-year-old Uzbekistani Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev, who recently defeated Team USA's Omari Jones in the semifinals by split decision, 3-2. Even though Muydinkhujaev won his first two rounds 5-0, his opponent — Marco Verde Alvarez — is the bracket's No. 2 seed. The Mexican won two welterweight gold medals in major South American tournaments last year: the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago and the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador.

Women's 50kg Gold Medal Match

This flyweight final is sure to be a tight bout, with China's Wu Yu the bracket's top seed and Turkiye's Buse Cakiroglu the No. 3 seed. Wu, the 29-year-old who won the 2023 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships in New Delhi, has the more recent results on her resume. But Cakiroglu won gold in the light flyweight division at the 2022 edition of the tournament and owns a trio of gold medals from the European Championships. Perhaps most significantly, she earned 50kg silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Men's 92kg Gold Medal Match

It's tough to predict whether Uzbekistan's Lazizbek Mullojonov or Azerbaijan's Loren Alfonso will take gold, as both fighters have been dominant throughout their three prior Parisian matches. Alfonso did manage to take out No. 2 seed Davalt Boltaev of Tajikistan in the semis by a wide margin, 4-1. Whether his energy's spent or the Azerbaijani is reinvigorated remains to be seen.
