Overview

Freestyle skiing debuted as an official medal sport in 1992, and since then the Olympic program has continually grown to include new disciplines. It's arguably the sport with the widest variety of events under its domain.

For Milan Cortina 2026, the Olympic program has expanded to seven disciplines with the addition of dual moguls. In dual moguls, two skiers compete side-by-side on the same course, with the winner advancing to the next round of the bracket. While speed is an important component of these events, crossing the line first does not necessarily guarantee victory. As in traditional moguls, this is a judged event that also takes the execution of the skier's turns and aerial maneuvers into account.

The rest of program includes two traditional "freestyle skiing" disciplines (moguls, aerials), three newer "freeskiing" disciplines (halfpipe, slopestyle, big air) and one racing discipline (ski cross). All disciplines other than ski cross include some element of judging.

In total, there will be 15 medal events held at the 2026 Games. Each of the seven disciplines will have a men's and women's event, plus aerials also will see the return of the mixed team event which debuted in 2022.
