Host nation France is expected to win medals in the men's and women's tournaments.
Nikola Karabatic, 40, is widely regarded as one of the best players in men's handball and the three-time Olympic champion is seeking a record-breaking fourth gold medal with France this summer. The team's toughest test will most likely come against Denmark. As for the French women's team, their biggest challenge will be if they come across a Norwegian team led by Stine Skogrand.
The U.S. men's and women's handball teams did not qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
