What to know about judo at the 2024 Paris Olympics

There will be 14 different weight classes (seven for men, seven for women) for judo contested at the Paris Games, as well as the return of the mixed team event which debuted at the last Olympics.

Judo is one of the sports where the Olympic host country, France, should have an opportunity to shine. In particular, watch out for Teddy Riner, who holds a record 11 individual world titles in judo. The 35-year-old is a legend of the sport and is currently tied for the all-time lead in Olympic judo medals with five (a tally which includes three gold medals). Between the men's 100+kg tournament and the mixed team event, he should have two chances to add to his total and break the record.
