What to know about surfing at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Surfing is back on the Olympic program after making its debut three years ago in Tokyo. This time the action will take place in Tahiti, nearly 10,000 miles away from Paris.

Reigning Olympic champion Carissa Moore will be taking a break from competitive surfing after these Olympic Games. She remains a gold-medal contender for the women's competition, as do her two U.S. teammates, Caroline Marks and Caity Simmers.

On the men's side, both Americans in the field — John John Florence and Griffin Colapinto — are having incredible seasons on the World Surf League Championship Tour, but there are a number of top-level surfers, particularly from Brazil and Australia, in the mix as well.
