Game 1: Spain 23, Japan 8
Spain’s undefeated run in group play continued Saturday with a dominant victory over still-winless Japan, 23-8.
Spain got out to a 4-0 lead in the first period and did not let Japan on the board until Seyia Adachia scored on a penalty shot in the second period.
Bernat Sanahuja scored on all five of his attempts for Spain. Roger Tahull Compte and Alvara Granados Ortega each added four goals.
With the win, Spain is now the only undefeated team in the men's tournament. Japan falls to 0-4, the only winless team in Group A.
Game 2: Croatia 14, Greece 13
Down one and coming out of a timeout with 10 seconds remaining, Greece pulled its goalkeeper to try to get an extra-man advantage to tie the score. But the second pass of the possession was stolen by Croatia and the clock ran out as Greece suffered its first loss in Paris.
With the win, Croatia (3-1) moved ahead of Greece (3-1) to the top of the Group A standings.
The two teams tied seven times in the match and traded the lead four times. Greece led, 6-4, at the half, and Croatia responded with seven goals in the third, going into the final frame up, 11-9.
Greece tied the score for the final time when Efstathios Kalogeropoulos scored with an extra player and knotted it up at 12-12 with four minutes remaining. A minute later, Croatia's Konstantin Kharkov scored the eventual game-winner, and added another goal sixty second later. Greece's Angelos Vlachopoulos scored the final goal with 1:14 left on the clock, but he was also the one who committed the turnover in the final seconds.
Vlachopoulos also missed a penalty shot in the third quarter, and teammate Ioannis Fountoulis missed one in the third.
Vlachopoulos, Fountoulis, Kalogeropoulos, Alexandros Papanastasiou, and Stylianos Argyropoulos all had two goals for Greece. Kharkov led all scorers with four goals. Loren Fatovic and Jerko Marinic Kragic added three goals each for Croatia.
Game 3: Australia 9, Hungary 8
In a back-and-forth game, Australia's Nathan Power put through the game-winning goal with 46 seconds left.
Following Australia's final goal, Hungary swam down the pool and got an exclusion for an extra player opportunity with 25 seconds remaining. The final shot was blocked by Australian defenders and just stayed out of the goal for the Aussie win.
Until the final goal, the two teams had tied four times and traded the lead four times.
Saturday was the fourth straight game Australia has held an opponent to fewer than 10 goals. The Aussies have allowed the fewest goals of any team in Paris, giving up an average of seven goals per game. Keeper Nic Porter had eight saves.
Milos Maksimovic, Blake Edwards, and Power had three goals each for Australia. Krisztian Manhercz had four goals for Hungary.
With the win, Australia improves to 3-1 and remains in second in the Group B standings. Hungary (2-2) falls to third in Group B.

The Serbian defense held France to just two goals in each of the four quarters. They led 8-4 at the half, and added four more goals in the third for a commanding lead.
The difference in the game was extra player efficiency. Croatia was 5-for-6 on extra player attempts, while France was just 4-for-9. France shot just 25% on all shots on the night.
Dusan Mandic, Strahinja Rasovic, Radomir Drasovic, and Nemanja Ubovic all had two goals each for Serbia. Thomas Vernoux and Mehdi Marzouki both had two goals for France.
France falls to 1-3, and is fifth in Group B with one pool play game remaining. Serbia improves to 2-2, tied for third in Group B with Hungary.
