Day 4 of Olympic tennis sifted the draw to the remaining sweet 16, and the on-court action was even sweeter, with the game's biggest names punching their tickets to Round 3.

Here are the top headlines, final scores and fresh quotes from the grounds of Roland-Garros.

Djokovic dismisses Nadal in the pair's legendary 60th match

Two titans of men's tennis took to the Roland-Garros show court in an early-round clash on Monday: 14 time French Open champion Rafael Nadal and all-time leading men's title holder Novak Djokovic.

In the pair's 60th meeting, Djokovic dominated, dropping a singular game before he took the set.

Set 2 saw Nadal, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, rally with the roars of the crowd behind him, and win three consecutive games. But in the end, Djokovic was too strong and won the match, 6-1, 6-4. Read the full match report.

Coco's gold medal quest continues

No. 2 seed Coco Gauff cruised to the third round on Monday. The top American woman gave Argentina's Maria Lourdes Carle her walking papers when she won, 6-1, 6-1. Gauff dropped only two games on the way to victory, with her forehand teeming with topspin, giving Gauff the go-ahead and take the offensive and win 82% of shots at the net. Gauff kicked off the American women's win streak, but her fellow patriots were put to the test.  Danielle Collins split sets with 2018 Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark before she unleashed the "Danimal" in Set 3 to win the match, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Read the full match stats.

World-ranked No. 15 Emma Navarro battled back after dropping the first set in a tie-break to Bulgaria's Viktoriya Tomolva, before picking up the last two sets and her entry card into Round 3. Read the full match stats.

Despite injury, Alcaraz advances

Carlos Alcaraz won in straight sets Monday to advance to the third round of Olympic tennis men’s singles at Roland-Garros.

What little drama there was, involved Alcaraz’s health more so than his opponent.

The 21-year-old Spaniard defeated the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).

After nearly blanking the world No. 28 in the opening set, Alcaraz was tested in Set 2. So, too, was his right leg. Tied, 4-4, Alcaraz was shown favoring his thigh area and, after falling down 5-4, took an injury timeout and went with a trainer to the locker.

He emerged looking fluid but quickly faced a set point, which he saved. An exuberant Alcaraz then knotted the set at 5-5 and had little issue the rest of the way. Read the full match report

Billie Jean King and Snoop Dogg visit Roland-Garros

Two of Long Beach, California's most notable natives met at Roland-Garros on Monday, when tennis icon Billie Jean King and Snoop Dogg shot a selfie.

King and Snoop Dogg share a special connection: they are both graduates of Long Beach Polytechnic High School. King graduated in 1961 and Snoop in 1989.

Now, nearly 6,000 miles away from their hometown, both have met in the City of Light and shared the Olympic love.

Swiatek soars, Paolini passes

Gold medal favorite Iga Swiatek effortlessly advanced into the third round, after she pummeled France's Diane Parry, 6-1, 6-1.

The crowd's cheers couldn't bolster Parry's game, and Swiatek took the first set in a tidy 38 minutes. Swiatek continued the momentum in the second and broke Parry early to set herself up 2-0, and ultimately take the match. Read the full match stats.

The Suzanne-Lenglen Court was painted red, white and green when Italy's Jasmine Paolini topped Poland's Magda Linette, 6-4, 6-1. The 2024 Wimbledon women's finalist took longer to find her footing in the first set on Monday, but came back and won an impressive 92% of her second serves to secure her victory.

"Today was a tough match," Paolini said post-match. "[Linette is] playing so good, she won a tournament last week. At the beginning, it was a really tough match. I couldn't take the chances that I had when she was serving but I'm happy that I managed to win."

Next up, the top Italian woman will either face world No. 22, Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia, or Slovakia's Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, both players whose best tennis has been played on clay. Schmiedlova reached the Round of 16 at the French Open in 2023, and that same year Haddad Maia made the semifinals in Paris.

"Both Anna [Karolina Schmiedlova] and Beatriz [Haddad Maia] can play really well here," Paolini noted. "The latter is really dangerous, she fights for every ball, and we have history of battles with both, so I will try my best.”

Barbora Krejcikova had a lighter load on Monday, after her first round match lasted nearly three hours. Krejcikova defeated Xinyu Wang of China, 6-3, 6-2, and made four aces en route to her win. Read the full match stats.
