The U.S. women, meanwhile, qualified for the Paris Games after winning the CONCACAF W Championship in July 2022. The women's roster was announced in late June, while the men's roster was announced on July 8. Catarina Macario was initially named to the USWNT roster but was ruled out on July 12 due to a knee injury and replaced by Lynn Williams. An injury to Jaedyn Shaw resulted in Croix Bethune being activated to the gameday roster and playing minutes during the Olympics.

By winning the 2023 Pan American Games, the U.S. women secured a spot at the Paris Games in the team event. That allows the U.S. to bring a full team of three women to Paris, although only two will be allowed to compete in the singles tournament. Lily Zhang was able to automatically qualify for the U.S. team, while the other two spots were decided at Olympic Trials. Kanak Jha was the lone qualifier for the men, earning his spot through a Pan American tournament in May.

The qualifying period for tennis ended on June 10. At that time, the ATP (for men) and WTA (for women) ranking lists were used to determine Olympic qualifiers. Each country can have a maximum of 12 players (six men, six women) competing in Paris. Countries will be limited to no more than four players in men's and women's singles. It's not uncommon for some players who qualify to end up skipping the Olympics, and that ended up being the case for several U.S. players. Ben Shelton, Sebastian Korda, Madison Keys and Nicole Melichar-Martinez were not on the USTA's named roster despite finishing in Olympic qualifying position.

The majority of the U.S. Olympic track & field team was decided at the Trials that took place June 21-30 in Eugene, Oregon. The top three finishers in each event at Trials made the Olympic roster, provided they met the Olympic qualifying standard or had a high enough world ranking. Additional athletes, based on results from Trials, were also added to the relay pools. A separate trial was held in February 2024 to determine which marathoners will represent the U.S. in Paris.

Weightlifting
Although there are five different weight classes per gender, each country can only have three lifters per gender on their Olympic team. (There is also a limit of one athlete per weight class from each nation.) Hampton Morris was the lone man to finish in Olympic qualifying position, but Wes Kitts made the team by earning a continental spot. On the women's side, four women finished in Olympic qualifying position, but Jourdan Delacruz, Olivia Reeves and Mary Theisen-Lappen were named to the team based on their rankings within their respective weight classes.
