Lily Zhang was able to automatically qualify for the U.S. team, while the other two spots were decided at Olympic Trials. The qualifying period for tennis ended on June 10. At that time, the ATP (for men) and WTA (for women) ranking lists were used to determine Olympic qualifiers. Each country can have a maximum of 12 players (six men, six women) competing in Paris. Countries will be limited to no more than four players in men's and women's singles. It's not uncommon for some players who qualify to end up skipping the Olympics, and that ended up being the case for several U.S. players. Track & Field

The majority of the Olympic team will be decided at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials taking place June 21-30 in Eugene, Oregon. The top three finishers in each event at Trials make the Olympic roster, provided they have met the Olympic qualifying standard or have a high enough world ranking. Additional athletes, based on results from Trials, can also be added to the relay pools. A separate trial was held in February 2024 to determine which marathoners will represent the U.S. in Paris.
