American Ryan Crouser became the Legendary status: U.S. shot putter Ryan Crouser wins unprecedented third gold medal, after he clinched the top podium spot in the men's shot put final on Saturday with a throw of 22.90m. Joe Kovacs, also representing the United States, took home the silver. Crouser and Kovacs join Ralph Rose (1904-1912) and Parry O'Brien (1952-1960) as the only men in history to win three Olympic shot put medals. American Payton Otterdahl finished in fourth, just shy of the podium.

“I feel so lucky to be out there competing," Crouser said. "This year hasn’t been easy. The elbow injury, the back… just so many setbacks and a lot of self-doubt as to whether I would get back.

"It took a lot to get back to where I had been in the past. It’s made it all the more special to be out there tonight. There were a lot of times I thought I might not be."

Gymnastics: Simone Biles, Jade Carey and Stephen Nedoroscik earn medals

Simone Biles continued her dominance by winning the women's vault final on Saturday. Brazil's Rebeca Andrade earned silver and Jade Carey took bronze.

Biles competed the Yurchenko double pike, also known as the Biles II. It is the most difficult vault ever done by a woman.

Biles earned her 10th Olympic medal and seventh career gold, becoming the fifth woman with at least 10 Olympic medals in women's gymnastics. She is also the second woman to win two Olympic golds in this event, joining Czechoslovakia’s Vera Caslavska (1964, 1968).

"(I was) a little bit tired going into the finals, but I kept pushing, and I'm excited to be on the podium with Jade again, as well as Rebeca," said Biles.

Her seventh gold ties her with Allyson Felix for the third most all-time among American women behind Jenny Thompson (eight) and Katie Ledecky (nine).

Biles has now won three golds in three events so far in Paris (team, individual all-around, vault). She will compete in two more events at these Games in floor and beam on Monday, Aug. 5.

Andrade earned her fifth career Olympic medal, which ties her for the most Olympic medals won by an athlete from Brazil. She is also expected to compete in uneven bars, beam and floor.

Carey earned her first Olympic medal on vault in her second Olympic vault final. The vault was her last event of the Games.

Tennis: Men's doubles winners crowned

Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram won silver in the men's doubles final. Krajicek/Ram took the first one in an 8-6 tiebreaker. Matthew Ebden/John Peers answered in the second set tiebreaker, 7-1, to force a match-deciding 10-point tiebreaker. After Australia built an advantage, Krajicek/Ram  trimmed the deficit to one. But Ebden/Peers secured the winner with a volley that split the American pair down the middle.

Krajicek/Ram’s finish is the highest in U.S. men’s doubles since 2012 when Mike and Bob Bryan won gold.

Fritz/Paul won the bronze medal match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

This is the first time the U.S. has won multiple Olympic medals in men's doubles since 1904 when they swept the podium.

Shooting: Vincent Hancock writes more history

American Vincent Hancock made history when he won the men's skeet competition on Saturday. Fellow American Conner Prince earned silver.

Hancock becomes the sixth Olympian and fourth American to win four gold medals in the same individual event. He also won this event in 2008, 2012 and 2020.

This is the first time since 1976 that the U.S. has won both gold an silver in the same shooting event.

Hancock coaches the silver-medalist Prince. When speaking about the experience of making his Olympic debut alongside his mentor, Prince said, "[The Olympics] only happens once every four years, and the fact that me and my coach get to go over there and experience it together is quite an honor."

These medals are the second and third shooting medals for the U.S. at these Games. Hancock becomes the first American man to win an individual gold medal at these Olympic Games.

Swimming: Katie Ledecky wins historic ninth gold

In her final swim of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Katie Ledecky won the women's 800m freestyle, repeating a feat she accomplished at London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. She became the first woman ever, and the second swimmer ever behind Michael Phelps, to four-peat in an individual Olympic event.

The gold medal is Ledecky's ninth of her career, breaking a tie she held briefly with fellow American Jenny Thompson and giving her the most gold medals of any American woman, in any sport.

Australian star Ariarne Titmus stayed within a body length of Ledecky for nearly all 16 laps. Eventually, Ledecky touched first in 8:11.04, with Titmus 1.25 seconds behind in the silver position.

Team USA’s Paige Madden took bronze, her first individual Olympic medal.
