Breaking makes its debut at La Concorde, Team USA women's basketball and men's water polo teams compete in the semis, Olivia Reeves seeks elusive American weightlifting hardware, and Spencer Lee takes the mat with gold on the line.

In track and field, hurdlers Rai Benjamin and Karsten Warholm renew their rivalry, heptathlete Anna Hall vies for a podium spot, and Team USA attempts to lock up double 4x100m relays golds for the first time in 32 years.

Below, a full breakdown of the top events and athletes to watch on Day 14.

With eight different event podiums at stake, it's another big day for track and field in Paris, and top Americans are vying for spots in the men's 400m hurdles, both 4x100m relays and the heptathlon.

American Rai Benjamin and Norway's Karsten Warholm meet in the 400m hurdles for a ninth time in their careers. In an epic final at the Tokyo Olympics, Warholm lowered his world record by an astonishing three-quarters of a second for gold; Benjamin dipped under Warholm's previous record for silver; and Brazilian Alison dos Santos clocked the fourth-fastest time in history for bronze. A tough race to beat, but if there's any trio whose encore can live up to the original, it's this one — they own 17 of the event's best all-time marks.

Head-to-head, Warholm went 4-0 before finishing seventh to Benjamin's silver at 2022 Worlds after an injury-plagued season. He leapt back atop the podium at 2023 Worlds, taking gold over Benjamin's bronze. But since then, Benjamin is 2-0 with wins at the 2023 Pre Classic and this year's Monaco Diamond League meet. If Warholm pulls off the 400m hurdles title defense, he becomes the first man to repeat since Glenn Davis at the Melbourne 1956 and Rome 1960 Games. If Benjamin wins, it's his first individual global title.

In the relays, the Americans enter their respective finals with the top qualifying times, poised to strike double gold. The U.S. women's team took silver in Tokyo and gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The men, meanwhile, are in the midst of a treacherous drought — a sloppy handoff exit in Tokyo, a zone violation DQ in Rio, a retroactive doping DQ in London and a baton drop in Beijing. The team last won a medal (silver) at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and gold at the Games prior in Sydney.

Jamaica, a thorn in Team USA's side for more than a decade, is suddenly out of the picture in Paris. Its women's team is missing Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson, and its men's team did not qualify for the final. This leaves open a chance for both U.S. teams to win gold for the first time since the 1992 Barcelona Games.

Two-time world medalist Anna Hall of the U.S. sits in third place (3956) after Day 1 of the heptathlon. Britain's 2019 and 2023 world champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson (4055) is in front, followed by two-time defending Olympic champion Nafi Thiam (4007) of Belgium in second. The remaining events — long jump, javelin and the 800m — heavily favor both KJT and Thiam, but Hall possesses the potential, especially in the 800m, to hang on for a podium spot.

American Chase Jackson, nee Ealey, didn't make the shot put final, placing 17th in Thursday's qualifying. The two-time reigning world champion missed out on the Tokyo Olympics altogether after two bouts with COVID, and had entered Paris the favorite. Canadian Sarah Mitton, the reigning indoor world champion, now assumes that title in the final.
 

American Olivia Reeves enters as the 71kg (156 lbs.) favorite thanks in large part to a maximum-quota gift from China.

At 2023 Worlds, Liao Guifang won the weight class by 18 kilograms, increasing her world record by five kilograms and recording the most dominant performance among all competitors. But when China declared its three women's weightlifters for Paris, Liao did not make the cut. That leaves Reeves — a five-time world champion in the sport and the reigning World Cup winner — next in line to capture gold, a feat no American weightlifter has accomplished in any event since the 2000 Sydney Games.

Ecuador's two-time world 71kg medalist Angie Palacios and Romania's 2022 world champion Loredana Toma will challenge.

In the men's 89kg (196 lbs.), it's a similar story for China, with world record-holder Li Dayin missing due to the max quota. Karlos Nasar of Bulgaria is the two-time reigning European titleholder, while Iran’s Mostafa Javadi is the reigning world champion.

In the women's semifinals, the U.S. takes on Australia. It's a rematch from the Tokyo quarterfinals in which the Americans won by 24 points en route to their seventh-straight Games title.

A'ja Wilson tallied 20 points to help the U.S. defeat Nigeria 88-74 in these Games' quarterfinals. Team USA has won 59 straight at the Olympics.

Australia beat Serbia 85-67 in the quarterfinals and is led by Sami Whitcomb, who's averaging 14.8 points per game.

Host nation France remains alive in the both basketball tournaments. It faces Belgium in the women's semis.

U.S. national champion Spencer Lee matches up against Rio silver medalist Rei Higuchi of Japan in the men's freestyle 57kg final. Lee arrived in the final with a 3-2 Round of 16, 12-2 quarterfinal and 14-4 semifinal. Serbian world champion and Indiana native Stevan Micic entered as the favorite but pulled out Monday with an injury.

Fellow Americans Helen Maroulis and Aaron Brooks weren't as lucky in their respective women's 57kg and men's 86kg semifinals — Maroulis lost 10-4 to three-time world champion Tsugumi Sakurai, while Brooks fell in a close bout to Bulgarian Magomed Ramazanov. They'll compete for bronze medals.

Maroulis made history Thursday as the first American women's wrestler to compete at three Games, and at age 32 is the oldest American women's wrestler to participate in an Olympics.

Breaking is the one and only sport new to the Olympic program in Paris. Athletes compete in head-to-head "battles" over music played by a DJ.

Sunny Choi ("Sunny") of Queens, N.Y., is an outside medal contender. The 2019 world silver medalist started breaking as a freshman at UPenn. Last year, she quit her job as the Director of Global Creative Operations of a major skincare and makeup company to focus full time on the sport. The other American competing in the women's event is Logan Edra ("Logistx").

Lithuanian teenager Dominika Banevic (“Nicka”) is favored after capturing the most recent world title against 41-year-old Japanese breaking legend Ayumi Fukushima (“Ayumi”). Also in the mix: China's Liu Qingyi (“671”), Dutchwoman India Sardjoe (“India”) and 2022 world champion Ami Yuasa (“Ami”) of Japan.

The U.S. men's team plays two-time defending Olympic gold medalist Serbia. It's the Americans' first semifinal appearance since 2008.

In the other semi, Tokyo bronze medalist Hungary takes on reigning world champion Croatia.

The U.S. men's volleyball team faces reigning world champion Italy for bronze. Both teams last claimed medals in Rio, with Italy securing silver and the U.S. capturing bronze.

The winner of this match takes the lead in most Olympic men's volleyball medals.

American CJ Nickolas is a contender in the 80kg (176 lbs.) having taken silver at last year's world championships. He's in search of Team USA's first U.S. men's taekwondo medal since the 2004 Athens Games.

In the women's 67kg (148 lbs.), France's Magda Wiet-Henin is the reigning world champion with home field advantage in Paris. She faces 18-year-old Kristina Teachout of Florida in the first round of the day.

Spain and France clash for gold in the men's final. Spain is the silver medalist from Tokyo, while France only has two medals in its history: a silver as host nation in 1900, and gold at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.

In the women's bronze medal match, reigning Women's World Cup champion Spain seeks its first Olympic women's soccer medal in its Games debut.

For the first time since the 2000 Sydney Olympics, no U.S. women's pairing made beach volleyball's semifinals. Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng exited with a straight-sets quarterfinal loss to one of Switzerland's duos, while the other Americans, Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss lost to Canada.

Brazil hasn't won a gold in the women's tournament since the sport's official Olympic debut at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Meanwhile, Canada is now set to win its first women's medal in the event.

In the bronze match, Mariafe Artacho and Taliqua Clancy are the silver medalists from Tokyo.
