How many rugby teams go to the Olympics?

How do you qualify for Olympic rugby?
With France being the host nation, its men's and women's teams have earned automatic qualification.
The other 11 teams in each tournament qualify for the Olympics through three different competitions; the 2022-2023 World Rugby Sevens World Series, the 2023 World Rugby Regional Association Olympic Qualification Tournaments and the Final Olympic Repechage Tournament.
The top-four teams in each gender at the end of the 2022-2023 World Rugby Sevens World Series secure a place at the Olympics, while the winner of each of the designated tournaments in the 2023 World Rugby Regional Association Olympic Qualification Tournaments also earns qualification. In the Final Olympic Repechage Tournament, only one team per gender gets to go to the Games.
