Two-time U.S. national all-around silver medalist Shilese Jones has withdrawn from the 2024 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships, just a few hours before the first day of women's competition was set to begin in Fort Worth, Texas.

Prior to podium training, Jones reported an injury to her right shoulder that flared up after the Core Hydration Classic, where she placed second all-around to Simone Biles.

“Unfortunately, I won't be participating in the Xfinity Championships this year. With Paris as my ultimate focus, it's best for me to prioritize recovery and resting my shoulder this weekend. Both the medical team and I are confident this is the right decision to ensure I’m at full strength for Trials," Jones wrote in a statement. "I’m excited to support my fellow athletes and teammates this weekend.

Jones plans to submit a petition to USA Gymnastics in hopes of competing at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Minneapolis next month.

The top two athletes in the combined all-around rankings from both days of competition at the U.S. Championships will automatically advance to the Trials.
