Overview

Ski jumping at the Winter Olympics is one of the most exhilarating and dramatic events, showcasing athletes who defy gravity. The sport is a blend of athletic precision and sheer determination, as jumpers must master the balance between speed, technique and control to achieve the perfect flight and landing. With every jump the excitement builds, making ski jumping a highlight of the Winter Games.

Ski jumping made its Olympic debut at the 1924 Games in Chamonix with the men's large hill event. The men's small hill event was added in Innsbruck in 1964, followed by the introduction of the men's team event in Calgary in 1988. The women's small hill event debuted in Sochi in 2014, and the mixed team event was added in Beijing in 2022. Looking ahead, the 2026 Milano Cortina Games will feature the new individual women's large hill event and the men’s super team competition.
