When to watch table tennis during the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games
Table tennis events will be held from Thursday, August 29 to Saturday, September 7 at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
Table tennis’ history at the Paralympic Games goes back to the very first edition in 1960 in Rome. In terms of participation, table tennis is the third largest Paralympic sport.
What started as a competition for wheelchair athletes, is now open to a much wider range of athletes. Eleven classifications cover a variety of physical and intellectual impairments, where athletes compete in singles and doubles competitions.
In the doubles competitions, two athletes’ classification numbers must not exceed a designated sum. For example, in the men’s doubles MS18 event, the class numbers for athletes on a team can add up to a maximum of 18.
Classes 1-5 | Athletes who compete in a wheelchair |
Classes 6-10 | Athletes who compete while standing |
Class 11 | Athletes with an intellectual impairment |

Team USA: Table tennis athletes to watch
Ian Seidenfeld of Minnesota returns to the Paralympics to defend his men's singles class 6 gold medal. Seidenfeld upset Rio gold medalist Peter Rosenmeier of Denmark during the final in Tokyo. Seidenfeld’s dad, Mitch, is his coach and won a gold medal in table tennis at the 1992 Barcelona Paralympics.
Seidenfeld is expected to compete in the men's doubles class 18 with Tahl Leibovitz of New York. Leibovitz will be competing in the men's singles class 9, and won a gold medal in men's singles class 7 at the 1996 Paralympics.
