Athletes and teams representing the U.S. now know what stylish uniforms they will wear during the Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Ralph Lauren uniforms were unveiled with the goal of bringing a classic style into the modern era that will shine on the global stage and be remembered for generations to come, the clothing brand said in a press release.
“Ralph Lauren is profoundly honored to define the look of the American delegation as they represent our country in one of the world’s most celebrated and storied events,” David Lauren, chief branding and innovation officer for Ralph Lauren, said in a statement. “This summer, Paris is the backdrop where fashion and sport will collide on the world’s biggest stage with a global audience and that is an incredibly exciting exposition.”
Team USA's Opening Ceremony uniforms
The uniforms for the Opening Ceremony feature a navy blue jacket, light blue striped dress shirt, blue-washed jeans and beige suede shoes.
The jacket will have red and white stripes along the edges, wrists area and above the pockets with the U.S. Olympic team logo on the right side and the Ralph Lauren logo on the left. The pants have a tapered design, while the dress shirt also has the team logo on the right side and the Ralph Lauren logo on the left. The tie for the uniform is navy blue. Both the shoes and belt have an American flag on them. The belt will have “Team USA” written on it in white and blue colors.
Team USA's Closing Ceremony uniforms
The Closing Ceremony uniforms feature a predominantly white look that includes a moto-style denim jacket and jeans, polo, hat and the same belt and shoes that are part of the Opening Ceremony uniforms.
The zippered and buttoned white jacket has a red, navy blue and light blue strip across the center from arm to arm. There is an American flag on the left sleeve of the strip and the No. 24 on the right sleeve. Written in the center of the strip is “USA,” and on the bottom edge of the strip is one badge that says “24 Team USA” and another that says “Team USA.” Above the strip are the U.S. Olympic team and Ralph Lauren logos while the right shoulder has the word “team” on it and the left shoulder has “USA” on it.
The pants are completely white with the words “Team USA” and an American flag on the left side of the pants in blue lettering. The polo is similar to the jacket with the same strip across the center of the shirt and the same badges placed on the sleeves and above the center of the strip.
That hat features red, white and blue colors with the team logo placed in the center and the year 2024 on the cap.
“Ralph Lauren has once again created designs that not only capture the essence of American style but also embody the spirit and pride of Team USA,” Sarah Hirshland, CEO of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee said in a statement. “As Team USA prepares to represent the United States at the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games, this iconic apparel serves as a symbol of unity and inspiration for both our team and the millions of fans who will be cheering them on.”
This will be the ninth time that Ralph Lauren has designed uniforms for American athletes to wear during the Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony at the Olympics. The clothing company said each item in the uniforms was manufactured in the U.S., with the Closing Ceremony uniform containing flat-knit technology aimed to minimize waste from excess fabric.
