The track and field events will stretch across Paris from August 2 to August 8, and transform France’s largest stadium into the Olympic Stadium.

Stade de France

Most track and field events will take place at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, just north of Paris. The stadium, which has hosted many of France’s biggest sporting events, was created for the men’s 1998 World Cup, and has also held Rugby World Cups and World Track and Field Championships. 

Regular tenants of the Stade de France include the French national teams for soccer and rugby, and the Paris rugby club Stade Français.

International musical acts such as Prince, Beyoncé, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and more have all performed at Stade de France. 

Hôtel des Invalides

The marathon events will start from the historic Hôtel de Ville, athletes will follow a route past many of the iconic sights of Paris to Versailles, and then cross the finish line at the Hôtel des Invalides. Located in Paris, the Hôtel des Invalides is a complex of buildings containing museums and monuments of military history of France.

The marathon start and finish areas will be temporarily constructed for the Olympics.

Trocadéro

The 20km race walk event will start just across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower at the Trocadéro. One of the city’s most iconic landmarks in the heart of Paris, the Trocadéro will host multiple events around the Olympics, including the 20km race walk and the cycling road race. 

The Stade de France will have a capacity of 77,083 spectators for track and field. 

Tickets for track and field events being held at the Stade de France will range from 24 to 990 Euros (approximately $26 to $1073 USD) at face value depending on whether it is a session of qualifying or medal events. 

Tickets for the race walk cost 24 Euros at face value. The cost of tickets for the finish line of the marathon will range from 24 to 40 Euros.
