Led by a world championship silver medalist, the 2024 U.S. Olympic taekwondo team will consist of four athletes, all of whom will be making their Olympic debuts.

Since the sport officially joined the program in 2000, the U.S. has won at least one taekwondo medal at every Olympics. Find out more about the quartet of competitors who will attempt to extend that streak this summer at the Paris Games.

Known as one of the sport's most exciting athletes to watch, CJ Nickolas is a rising star and bona fide medal contender for Team USA. The California native earned silver at last year's World Championships, ending a medal drought for the U.S. men that had lasted since 2009. He's also coming off a gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games. Set to turn 23 shortly before the start of the Paris Olympics, Nickolas is currently ranked No. 2 in the men's 80kg (176 lbs.) weight class.

Standing at 6-foot-6, Jonathan Healy is set to represent the U.S. in the men's 80+kg (176+ lbs.) division. The 2019 Pan American Games champion (and 2023 silver medalist) is ranked No. 9 in his weight class and will make his Olympic debut at age 27.

Faith Dillon, who will be 22 during the Olympics, is currently ranked No. 9 in the women's 57kg (126 lbs.) weight class. Her path to Paris included a victory over Makayla Greenwood, the 2022 world champion at the non-Olympic weight of 53kg (117 lbs.), at U.S. Olympic Trials. Dillon will be competing in the same weight class at which Anastasija Zolotic won her gold medal three years ago in Tokyo.

USA Taekwondo

After defeating Anastasija Zolotic (who changed weight classes) at U.S. Olympic Trials, Kristina Teachout will hope to follow in her footsteps on the Olympic stage. At age 18, Zolotic became the first American woman to win Olympic taekwondo gold. Now Teachout, who was 18 when she beat Zolotic, will compete for Team USA in the women's 67kg division (148 lbs.) in Paris. Teachout's competition resume is still growing but already includes a bronze medal from the 2023 Pan American Games.
