Venues

The cycling-spoiled fans of France get even more in 2024, with races and competitions being held inside and outside of the Paris city limits. Road cycling will stay close to the city center and the famed Pont d’Iéna bridge. So too will BMX freestyle competitions, which will share a space with skateboarding, 3x3 basketball and breaking athletes at the La Concorde Urban Park.

Elancourt Hill,  the highest point in the Paris Region, will host both men’s and women’s cross-country mountain bike events. 

Racers chasing speed within the smallest confines will compete in adjacent venues in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines – track cyclists in the National Velodrome and BMX racers on their own fully-covered, open-air stadium course.

Team USA: Olympic cyclists to watch 

Several American road race cyclists exemplify the stunning capabilities of elite athletes, as Chloe Dygert (track cycling), Kristen Faulkner (track cycling), and Taylor Knibb (triathlon) are competing in other disciplines. All aim to become the first U.S. athlete to win an Olympic road race medal since 2016. Dygert is the reigning world champion in women's time trial, so hopes are high. On the men's side, Brandon McNulty hopes to use his sixth-place experience as firm footing for a podium run this year.

Jennifer Valente is the reigning Olympic and world champion in omnium and brings three Olympic medals worth of experience to these Games. BMX racers Alise Willoughby, Felicia Stancil, and Daleny Vaughn are all capable of winning a medal, and men's racers Kamren Larsen and Cameron Wood are both coming off solid World Cup circuits.

The BMX freestyle riders all boast reasonable hopes for medals, as Hannah Roberts already has a silver from Tokyo, Perris Benegas finished fourth in Tokyo, and both Marcus Christopher and Justin Dowell shined at X Games. Mountain bike features a pair of women's top 10 riders in Haley Batten and Savilia Blunk, while young Riley Amos has been crushing the U23 circuit while Christopher Blevins brings Olympic experience from Tokyo.
