When to watch goalball during the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games
Goalball events will take place between Thursday, August 29 and Thursday, September 5 in Paris. A men’s and a women’s competition will be held with eight teams in each.
Goalball athletes are visually impaired, and must have less than 10% visual acuity remaining or a visual field restricted to 40 degrees diameter. In order to ensure an even playing field, athletes wear eyeshades during competition.
Teams of three go head-to-head, and trade shots on the opposing goal as the clock ticks. Bells on the inside of the ball emit a sound when the ball bounces toward the goal, allowing the defending team to hear it on its approach.
Venue
Goalball matches will take place at the Paris Expo complex, in South Paris Arena 6, a major competition hub during the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Goalball players to watch on Team USA
The 2024 U.S. Paralympic men's goalball team is a blend of newcomers and veterans, with Calahan Young serving as a co-captain of the team. Young made his Paralympic Games debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games and was the team’s leading scorer with 20 goals.
The team's other co-captain is Tyler Merren, who is no stranger to the Paralympics. Merren made his debut in 2004 as a member of the bronze medal-winning team and also competed in 2008, 2016 (where he won a silver medal) and 2020.
Young and Merren will be joined by 2016 Paralympic silver medalist Matthew Simpson. Paris marks his third appearance at the Games.
Making their Paralympic debuts will be Tre'Shaun Faison, Zion Walker and Christian King.
The U.S. women’s team, which won silver in Tokyo, did not qualify for Paris.
