Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff is long overdue for her Olympic debut. The 20-year-old tennis wunderkind already has made a name for herself on the professional circuit as part of the next generation of tennis greats. After she had to drop out of the 2020 Olympics, Gauff is more than ready to make her Olympic dreams come true and compete on the iconic clay courts of Roland-Garros for Team USA.

Coco Gauff's parents are Corey and Candi Gauff. Her father, Corey, played basketball at Georgia State, and her mother, Candi, competed in track and field at Florida State University. 

To support Gauff's tennis career, her parents quit their jobs. Her mother homeschooled her and her father was her coach.

Coco Gauff has two younger brothers, Codey and Cameron.

Coco Gauff started playing tennis when she was 6 years old, though she first decided to focus on the sport after winning the "Little Mo" eight-and-under national championship in 2012.

Two years later, Gauff began training at the Mouratoglou Academy in France, which was run by Serena Williams' former coach Patrick Mouratoglou.

"I'll always remember the first time I saw Coco," Mourtaglou told United Press International in 2019. "She came over to the Mouratoglou Academy in 2014 to try out and she impressed me with her determination, athleticism and fighting spirit... She was only 10 years old, but you could feel she was already extremely ambitious. When she looks at you and tells you she will be number one, you can only believe it."
