He remains undefeated through all competitions, and kicked off his winning streak with a gold medal on the World Athletics Indoor Tour, and picked up two more first place finishes before taking gold at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow. He set another world record in April during a Diamond Discipline stop in China, and racked up three more first place finishes before taking gold at the European Athletics Championships in Rome.

Who are Mondo Duplantis’s biggest competitors?

Mondo Duplantis will have a number of athletes looking to unseat him as the standard of men’s pole vaulting in Paris this summer. The United States’ Chris Nilsen, who grabbed silver at the Tokyo Olympics and bronze at the 2023 World Championships, will be in the mix, as will 2023 World Championships silver medalist Ernest John Obiena of the Philippines and fourth-place finisher Kurtis Marschall of Australia. So far in 2024, Nilsen has come closest to Duplantis’ mark of 6.24m with a height  of 6.00m, followed by Obiena at 5.97m.
