Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal announced in mid June that Paris would be his last Olympic Games.

Here's how the 38-year-old is preparing for his final Olympic performance.

Rafael Nadal's coach is Carlos Moya, a fellow Mallorcan, former No. 1 player and 1998 French Open victor. Since bringing Moya on in 2016, Nadal has won eight Grand Slam titles. Toni Nadal, Nadal's uncle, also served on his coaching staff until 2017.

In a shocking upset, Rafael Nadal fell to German Alexander Zverev in the first round of the 2024 French Open. 

Rafael Nadal announced in June that he would skip Wimbledon in order to focus on preparing for the Paris Olympics, which he said will be his last Olympic Games.

Rafael Nadal will attempt to reclaim his Olympic titles in both the men's singles and men's doubles events in Paris.

Rafael Nadal will team up with 21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, also from Spain, for the men's doubles tournament in Paris. Alcaraz, the reigning French Open men's singles champion, will be making his Olympic debut.
 

While Rafael Nadal has not confirmed his retirement, the 38-year-old has stated that Paris will be his last Olympic performance and, in opting out of Wimbledon, may have played his last match on grass.

In his announcement on X, Nadal said his intention is to focus on his performance on clay courts so as to prepare for the clay awaiting him in Paris and lessen the strain switching surfaces puts on his body.

According to the Association of Tennis Professionals, Rafael Nadal is currently ranked 258th worldwide.
