Sophia Smith has won multiple trophies and awards with her club and the national team since making her professional debut in 2021. She was named to the U.S. women's Olympic soccer team for Paris. 

Here's how she got to this point and how she's preparing for her Olympic debut.

On June 26, Sophia Smith was named to the 18-player roster to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics for the U.S. women's national team. 

Sophia Smith trains in Portland, Oregon, with her team Portland Thorns FC. When she's with the national team, she trains in different areas across the country depending on the location of the team's upcoming games. 

Sophia Smith is in the midst of the NWSL regular season with the Portland Thorns. She currently has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 13 games. 

Sophia Smith scored only one goal at the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup. It occurred in the first half of extra time in a semifinal game against Canada. The U.S. went on to win 3-1 in a penalty shootout in which Smith shot and scored the first penalty for her team.  

Sophia Smith scored two goals at the 2024 SheBelieves Cup. Both goals were scored in the final against Canada. The U.S. won the game 5-4 in a penalty shootout in which Smith shot and scored the second penalty for her team. Due to her performance in the final, Smith was also named MVP. 

Sophia Smith currently plays for the Portlands Thorns FC. In March, she signed a contract extension to stay with the club through the 2025 season with an option to extend the contract through 2026.
