Jamie Davis, the CEO of USA Volleyball, will be leaving the organization to work as the CEO of USA Water Polo, USA Water Polo announced.
Davis' appointment was unanimously approved at a recent meeting of the USA Water Polo Board of Directors, and is effective Oct. 1. Davis has been with USA Volleyball since 2017, and during his time with the organization, the U.S. Women’s national team took home a historic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
“I am honored to join USA Water Polo and look forward to working with the talented athletes, coaches, staff, and the wider water polo community,” Davis said. “Together, we will continue to promote the growth and excellence of this sport.”
Davis is set to replace long-time USA Water Polo CEO Chris Ramsey, who is retiring. Ramsey is among the longest-tenured leaders for the U.S. governing bodies in the Olympic movement. Ramsey has been with USA Water Polo since 2006, and championed many Olympic training programs. During his tenure, USA Water Polo launched the USAWP Olympic Development Program, which has 6000 participants as of 2023. Ramsey was at the helm of USA Water Polo when the women's national team won three consecutive Olympic gold medals (2012, 2016, 2020) and in 2008 when the men's team won a silver medal.
"Jamie and I have worked together in the Olympic movement for many years, and I admire what he has done for USA Volleyball,” Ramsey said. “His experience, judgment and skill set will be good for water polo. And Jamie will benefit from a rising tide, buoyed by an engaged community, capable staff, and a clear vision from the board of directors leading into the LA Games in '28.”
