Team USA beach volleyball players Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss received a special send-off to Paris ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games from another notable female duo.
On behalf of non-profit Gold Meets Golden and partner Samsung, former NBC Saturday Night Live cast members Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph shared well-wishes and advice for Kloth and Nuss as they are set to make their Olympic debuts in Paris. While Wiig and Rudolph don’t have beach volleyball experience, the pair took turns volleying jokes between each other in a special video message for Kloth and Nuss.
“We probably should have had this meeting earlier, but it looks like you’re doing pretty well,” Wiig said.
Wiig and Rudolph also imparted on-court communication strategies for the former LSU Tigers.
“When I am sending her the ball to hit it over we just go, yoo-hoo,” Wiig said.
“You don’t have to say yoo-hoo,” Rudolph added. “you could say, ‘hey there’, or ‘sophisticated mama, look at you!’” Rudolph quipped.
Gold Meets Golden is a non-profit dedicated to generating awareness and support for sports related causes, and leading up to the Games orchestrated a series of surprises designed to uplift and celebrate some of the extraordinary athletes heading to Paris to represent Team USA.
Kloth and Nuss were thrilled to hear from their favorite funny ladies.
“I have watched you guys on my TV so many times, and I laugh every single time,” Kloth said.
At the end of their video call, partner Samsung gifted Tim and Tina, the owners of Mango’s Beach volleyball, the gym that Kloth and Nuss train at, a 98" tv so they could watch the tandem compete in Paris.
