Despite being an Olympic Trials champion in April, Jordan Oliver will not be headed to Tokyo for this summer's Olympics.

Oliver needed to reach the finals of Thursday's World Olympic Qualifier to punch his ticket to Japan, but failed to defeat Poland's Magomedmurad Gadzhiev in the semifinals. The Oklahoma State product made an admirable push late in the bout after falling into a 3-0 hole in the first period, but couldn't close the gap in the waning seconds. Gadzhiev went on to win the match 3-2 and earn the qualification spot for Poland.

With Oliver not making the trip to the Summer Games, the United States will not have a wrestler competing in the 65 kilograms class for men's freestyle in Tokyo.

Two other U.S. wrestlers, Jesse Porter and Adam Coon, also need to qualify their weight for Tokyo. Porter (77 kg) and Coon (130 kg), both Greco-Roman wrestlers, are scheduled to compete on Saturday.
