Noah Lyles sets out to complete the first men's 100m-200m double since Usain Bolt in 2016, Novak Djokovic searches for elusive Olympic gold against Carlos Alcaraz, and Suni Lee competes for another medal on uneven bars.

On the last day in the pool, Bobby Finke looks to defend his 1500m freestyle title, while other U.S. swimming stars close things out in the 4x100m medleys. Finally, Xander Schauffele tries to defend his Olympic gold in golf.

Below, a full breakdown of the top events and athletes to watch on Day 9.

Noah Lyles' moment is here. The once-specialist at 200m initially turned heads after adding the prestigious 100m to his focused pursuits, then quieted naysayers with a 100m-200m double at worlds last year — the first to accomplish that feat since Usain Bolt in 2015. The 27-year-old Virginian didn't stop there, claiming world indoor 60m silver in March, and doubling in the short sprints again at U.S. Trials in June. He enters Paris the favorite.

Nothing is guaranteed, though, especially in track's premiere event; just look at Marcell Jacobs' Tokyo's stunner. Lyles needs to fend off 23-year-old Jamaicans Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville, entering as world Nos. 1 and 4, as well as respective Tokyo 100m and 200m silver medalist teammates Fred Kerley and Kenny Bednarek. This is Kerley's sixth straight global championship team, and as an ex-quarter-miler he knows a thing or two about moving down in distance. Yes, it's been a rather tumultuous year for the 2022 world champion, but don't sleep on him.

Bednarek and Kerley tied for the fastest times of Saturday's heats. Seville and Thompson were fifth and sixth, and Lyles was a somewhat surprising 12th.

The day's other two finals are in men's hammer throw and women's high jump. Both include talented and decorated Americans in Rudy Winkler and Vashti Cunningham, but the competition is just too fierce. Look for reigning world champion Ethan Katzberg of Canada, 22, to take the hammer event — moustache and all — and world record-holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine to improve her Tokyo bronze to Paris gold in the high jump.

Other top Americans in prelims: Gabby Thomas (200m), Grant Holloway (110m hurdles) and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (400m hurdles).

Swimming wraps up competition with American Bobby Finke in the 1500m freestyle, Swede Sarah Sjostrom in the 50m freestyle, and the 4x100m medley relays.

Finke is the 1500m free defending gold medalist and American record-holder. He's well-positioned to repeat without 2023 world champion Ahmed Hafnaoui of Tunisia competing in Paris, but will be challenged by Ireland's Daniel Wiffen, the most recent world title-winner, and 2016 Rio gold medalist Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy. Wiffen and Paltrinieri had the two-fastest overall times in Saturday's heats, while Finke ranked sixth.

The U.S. per usual has podium potential in both 4x1 medleys. The men's team has won gold at every Olympics aside from the boycotted 1980 Moscow Games — the longest gold streak for one nation in any event in Olympic history — meaning a defeat would be fairly significant. The team's world record in Tokyo would seem to indicate it'll continue, however China led by Pan Zhanle and Qin Haiyang poses a mega threat. On the women's side, Australia is the defending Olympic gold medalist, while the U.S. won world titles in 2022 and 2023. That 2023 team featured world record-holders Regan Smith and Gretchen Walsh, as well as Kate Douglass and former world record-holder Lilly King.

Sjostrom has won three straight world 50m free titles since taking silver in Tokyo. Entering Paris she had swum the five-fastest times in history, and in Saturday's semifinals broke the Olympic record. She should cruise to gold.

Serbia's Novak Djokovic and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz face off in what should be an epic men's singles gold medal match.

It's a rematch of the two most recent Wimbledon Championships, both won by Alcaraz. The 21-year-old already has four majors to his name and entered Paris as the favorite.

Djokovic, a 24-time major champion in his fifth Games, has won everything but Olympic gold. The 37-year-old had surgery on a torn meniscus earlier this year, recovering quickly enough to play Wimbledon but likely still not at peak mobility level.

The two have played six times head-to-head and are split 3-3 overall and 1-1 on clay. Djokovic beat Alcaraz in the 2023 French Open semifinals in their only previous matchup at at Roland Garros.

The women’s doubles gold medal match features Italy's Sara Errani/Jasmine Paolini vs. Mirra Andreeva/Diana Shnaider, competing as Individual Neutral Athletes. Errani can complete the career doubles "Golden Slam" with a win.

The men's tournament wraps up with its fourth and final round.

Through three rounds, Jon Rahm of Spain and American Xander Schauffele, the defending gold medalist, were tied at 14-under par. Schauffele won both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship this year. Rahm is the Masters champion from 2023.

Schauffele has shot 65, 66 and 68, while Rahm has recorded 67, 66 and 66. Great Britain's Tommy Fleetwood sits in third, and reigning Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is tied for sixth with three others.

American Suni Lee seeks to improve on her uneven bars bronze from Tokyo, having said she didn't have her best routine at the last Games, citing fatigue from the all-around.

French-born Kaylia Nemour, representing Algeria, and China's Qiu Qiyuan, the reigning world champion, posted the highest scores in qualifications, both receiving marks over 15.000. Simone Biles just missing qualifying in ninth place.

Tokyo Olympic champion Liu Yang of China is heavily favored to defend his title on rings, making him the third man to win two golds on the event and the first repeat champion since 1972. His compatriot Zou Jingyuan led qualifications.

In men's vault, reigning world champion Jake Jarman of Great Britain enters as the favorite. Ukraine's Nazar Chepurnyi topped qualifications with a 14.833.

The U.S. women's basketball team (2-0) matches up against Germany (2-0) in its last group-stage game.

Team USA already has wins against Japan and Belgium. Breanna Stewart and A'ja Wilson have led the team, averaging 23.5 and 24 points per game, respectively.

• Archery — Five-time Olympian and four-time medalist Brady Ellison of the U.S. competes in the individual event, still in search of this first Olympic gold. Turkiye's Mete Gazoz is favored as defending Olympic and 2023 world champion.
• Cycling — Women's road race is wide-open, headlined by reigning world champion Lotte Kopecky of Belgium, a Dutch contingent and Italy's Elisa Longo Borghini, who could become the first cyclist to win three medals in the event.
• Table Tennis — Men's singles gold match features Tokyo silver medalist Fan Zhendong of China and Swede Truls Moregardh. Fan won the 2021 world title vs. Moregardh, who was the lowest-ranked player to ever reach a men's final at worlds.
• Shooting — American skeet shooter Dania Vizzi, 2023 world silver medalist, beat out both the most decorated female shooter in Olympic history Kim Rhode and reigning Olympic champion Amber English at U.S. Trials.
