Some of the top U.S. men's wrestlers set to compete at the Tokyo Olympics didn't have to wait until the Games to earn a gold medal.
Kyle Dake (74 kg), David Taylor (86 kg), Kyle Snyder (97 kg) and Gable Steveson (125 kg), all of whom have already punched their ticket to Tokyo, won gold at the 2021 Pan American Championships on Sunday. Several other U.S. wrestlers, Vito Arujau (57 kg), Shelton Mack (61 kg), Joey McKenna (65 kg), Alec Pantaleo (70 kg), Tommy Gantt (79 kg) and Nate Jackson (92 kg), also added to their gold medal count over the weekend.
At just 25 years old, Snyder now has six Pan American titles under his belt. Taylor, 30, has now won four Pan American gold medals. Dake and Steveson, meanwhile, were both making their first appearances at the Pan American Championships.
Taylor, Dake and Steveson will all be competing in their first Olympics when the festivities begin in Japan. Snyder will be making his second Olympic appearance after winning gold in Rio.
