Former U.S. Olympic men's basketball head coach and legendary college coach Mike Krzyzewski, or "Coach K" for short, is reportedly planning to retire after the conclusion of Duke University's 2021-22 season.

Coach K, 74, has been Duke's head coach for over 40 years. Since being named the Blue Devils' head coach in 1980, he's led Duke to five NCAA Division I titles, 12 appearances in the Final Four, 15 ACC tournament titles and 12 ACC regular season championships.

Adding to his unparalleled track record of success, Coach K has also played a key role for Team USA, guiding the U.S. men to gold medals in three straight Olympics in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

Taking over for Coach K as Team USA's head coach will be no easy task, but Gregg Popovich, head coach of the San Antonio Spurs since 1996, stands as a suitable successor. Regarded as one of the greatest head coaches in NBA history, Popovich has led the Spurs to five NBA Championships and is a three-time NBA Coach of the Year winner.
