Soccer: U.S. women back on top

The U.S. women's soccer team is back atop the Olympic podium after its 1-0 win against Brazil in the gold medal match on Saturday in Paris, France.

In the 57th minute, Mallory Swanson dribbled upfield into a one-on-one against Brazil’s goalkeeper, Lorena, and struck clean into the back of the net to make it 1-0. Swanson's game winner was her fourth goal of the tournament and came during her 100th cap with the U.S. team.

"I had a couple of opportunities earlier," Swanson said. "I tried to put those behind me. It was a great feeling to score."

It's only been 70 days since Emma Hayes coached her first match with the U.S. team. She's now the fastest USWNT coach to win a world title after she notched nine wins and one draw in the first 10 games.

"I'm going through so many emotions, so many feelings," Hayes said. "I'm very emotional. I feel privileged to be the coach of this team. I have no words."

During the Paris Games, Curry nailed 22 three-pointers, which is the fourth most for a U.S. man in a single Olympics. LeBron James nearly had another triple-double in his final Olympic game while Kevin Durant and Devin Booker each added 15 points.

She also earned the final point needed for inclusion into the LPGA Hall of Fame.

Germany's Esther Henseleit entered the final round seven strokes back of the leaders and shot a 66 (-6) on Saturday to earn silver. She was (+1) after the first two rounds in Paris

Xiyu Lin of China won bronze in her third Olympics, after finishing 38th in the 2016 Rio Games and tied for ninth in the Tokyo Games.

The relay team of Shamier Little, Alexis Holmes, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Gabby Thomas won the United States' eighth consecutive gold medal in the women's 4x400m relay, extending its impressive and long-standing win streak.

The Americans' time of 3:15.27 breaks a 36-year-old American record set at the 1988 Olympics.

Russell outran defending gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico.

"I'm the fourth-fastest woman ever in this event, so it wasn't about knowing if I could or couldn't (win)," Russell said. "It was just about remaining focused on what I could do — and honestly, just get over those hurdles and get to the line first."

Sport climbing: Team USA climbs to new heights

American Brooke Raboutou won silver in the women's bouldering and lead combined final on Saturday to earn the United States' second climbing medal of the Paris Games. Sam Watson previously won bronze in the men's speed event.

Slovenian Janja Garnbret's dominance in the sport continues as she defended her gold medal, besting Raboutou by 12.5 points. Austria's Jessica Pilz took bronze.

Unique to the sport, the podium as well as the participants in the final are more friend than foe. Raboutou also trains with Garnbret in Slovenia.

“This was just the dream," Raboutou said. "We have an incredible friendship, where we both want each other to do our best. That's what happened today, and it feels really good to share that with somebody.

“Obviously, we're competitive, but we want to compete against each other at our best, and that's what pushes us and pushes our sport."
