Across the 13 contested boxing events at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Uzbekistan and China were the big winners.

At the end of these Games, Uzbek boxers struck gold in five out of the seven men's categories contested.

The biggest winner of all? Uzbekistan's super heavyweight (92+kg/202+) Bakhodir Jalolov. (We mean that in the most literal sense.)

The breakdown

Women's Flyweight (50 kg/110 lbs.)

China won two women's gold boxing medals at these Games. Though this was chronologically the second, it was as groundbreaking as the first (in the bantamweight division).

Wu began with real ferocity as she went after Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Buse Naz Cakiroglu, who fell over while backtracking from the Chinese boxer's first-round assault.

Ireland's Kellie Harrington defended her gold medal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, earning her home country's fourth gold medal in boxing and third in women's boxing.

In her Olympic debut, California's Jajaira Gonzalez defeated France's Rio 2016 gold medalist Estelle Mossely in their opening bout.

Imane Khelif won Algeria's first women's boxing gold, defeating China's Yang Liu. Liu, the 2023 world champion in the weight class, earned a medal in her first Olympics at 32 years of age.

China's Li Qian won gold, becoming the first woman ever to earn three Olympic boxing medals.

Panama's Atheyna Bylon, a former cop, won her country's first Olympic medal. Cindy Ngamba earned the first-ever medal for the Refugee Olympic Team, established at Rio 2016.

Men's Flyweight (51 kg/112 lbs.)

Rio Olympics champion Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan claimed the men's flyweight boxing final after beating France's Billal Bennama at the Paris Olympics on Thursday.

Dusmatov's win by unanimous decision over Bennama was especially crushing for French fans, coming a day after fellow Frenchman Sofiane Oumiha's loss in the lightweight final.
