Florida Gator Kieran Smith qualified his second event for the Tokyo Olympic Games on Tuesday, going 1:45.29 to win the 200-meter freestyle.
The top four finishers in the event are guaranteed spots on the Tokyo as roster as potential members of the 4x200 freestyle relay. Rio Olympian Townley Haas finished second in 1:45.66, likely earning an individual spot in the 200 free as well, while Drew Kibler was third in 1:45.92 and Andrew Seliskar fourth in 1:46.34.
Smith won the 400 in 3:44.86 on Sunday, outpacing the field by over three seconds. With his 200 win, Smith firmly establishes himself as the mid-distance star of U.S. men's swimming -- no other man even hit the qualifying standard for the Olympics in the 400 on Sunday.
"I slept really well last night," Smith told NBC's Michele Tafoya when asked about his mentality heading into the 200 final after already punching his ticket in the 400.
Smith is also entered in the 100 and 800 free as well as the 200 back and 200 IM later this week in Omaha.
