How many athletes will represent the U.S. in triathlon at the Olympics?

Five triathletes are set to represent the U.S. at the Paris Olympics.

The U.S. secured four quota spots (two for men, two for women) as part of the mixed relay qualification and then earned an additional women's spot when the qualification period for individual quota spots wrapped up in May. One woman, Taylor Knibb, also qualified for Paris in road cycling.

Which of the Team USA triathletes have been to the Olympics before?

Paris marks Knibb's second Olympic Games. She previously earned an Olympic silver medal in the mixed relay at the Tokyo Games. As of now, she is the only U.S. athlete to qualify for the Paris Olympics in two sports.

Pearson, like Knibb, is an Olympic veteran. He anchored the same U.S. mixed relay team that earned a silver medal in Tokyo.

Spivey will head to the Olympics for the first time this summer. At 33, she has been among the world's elite triathletes as of late, finishing fourth in the World Triathlon Championship Series fourth in both 2022 and 2023.

Kasper and Rider both make their Olympic debuts in Paris, as well.
